Black Ships

These are the (mini wheeled replicas of the) infamous Black Ships that Admiral Perry came cruising in on to intimidate the Japanese into trading with the outside world. Was going to parade behind said ships in a spiffy flagbearer outfit but the torrential weather vetoed the planned celebrations. Next year eh?

A moment of Japanese zen...

Was walking down a tunnel of cherry blossom trees with a beautiful girl beside me, thinking how exquisitely Japanese the moment was, when a flashy MR-5 pulls up in front of us, the hazard lights flick on, and an old dude in a off-yellow tank top gets out and squats in the middle of the road with his chunky SLR camera and takes a few shots.

Beautiful.
