Who's calling? Oh, just my washing machine...

So there I was, louging at home, playing some Go, when my phone rang. Not so unusual, you might think, but I didn't recognise the caller, and when I answered I got a chirpily clinical Japanese voice informing me that my washing had finished, would I like to pick it up now, and thankyou ever so much for using our service...

Yup, my washing machine had called me up.

Long-term readers may remember my previous post about coin laundries over a year ago, but that was then, and they've evolved! What next? Shirt pressing? Dinner dates? I await the next generation with eagerness and not a little trepidation...

My God I think that's just blown my tiny mind. I only use one setting on our washing machine - it seems to work and I'm too afraid of trying anything else to change.

If there was a web interface for it though, I might be more willing to experiment.

...and I thought that I was being technologically advanced by sneakily checking my bittorrent downloads from my phone in the restaurant last night :P
